Email Update Received from HSVOC (Vic) August 25, 2010:

As most may be aware now the HSV Owners Club of Victoria (Incorporating HDT) Inc. is hosting the 2010 HSV Nationals in Melbourne.


The event is open to all owners of HDT (Brock) / HSV build plated vehicles. The iconic Royal Exhibition Building in the Carlton Gardens Melbourne has been selected to host the 'Concourse/Street' & 'Gala Dinner' events.

 

September 16th - 19th is when the Nationals will be held. A brief overview of the 4 day event has been listed below for your review:

 

THURSDAY 16th

 

·         Meet & Greet at HSV - Clayton

·         Entrants & their buddies to register and collect tickets, goody bags, etc...

·         Entrants & their buddies will have exclusive access to the HSV Factory tour and HSV museum

·         Entrants & their buddies will also be able to access the HRT Workshop tour

·         BBQ and refreshments provided for all entrants and their buddies

 

FRIDAY 17th

 

·         Set up of the 'Concourse' display, Brock Tribute, HSV's E3's along with various trader stands to take place at the Royal Exhibition Building

·         Show opens to the public from 5:00pm to 10:00pm

 

SATURDAY 18th

 

·         Set up of the 'Street' display, both Concourse and Street displays open to the public from 9:00am to 5:00pm

·         Gala Dinner set amongst the concourse display in the centre atrium commences from 6:30pm starting with pre dinner drinks, concluding at 12:00am

·         Special guests, entertainment and charity action to form part of the evenings formalities; to name a few things

 

SUNDAY 19th

 

·         Cruise in convoy formation from the Royal Exhibition Building to Holden's Proving Ground "Lang Lang" for farewell event

·         Opportunity to complete a parade lap of Lang Lang's famous speed bowl by all entrants

·         BBQ, refreshments and entertainment provided

·         Ride laps available to all entrants and their buddies at a small donation to Very Special Kids in an exclusive (and top secret) car...

 

With entries still open for another 7 days, this is an opportunity not to be missed, not to mention that it is unlikely a Nationals event will ever be stage at this level again. The 4 days activities are exclusive to entrants and their buddies only. General public are unable to attend Thursdays and Sundays events.

 

We would appreciate that as a club representative of your HDT or HSV Car Club, that you pass onto your members the above mentioned overview along with the attached letter in anticipation of your members joining us for the 2010 HSV Nationals.

Summary of entry documents available at our website:

 

·         Entry Form - This form is a 4 page document designed for those wishing to enter a vehicle. The form has been created to ensure we understand each and every entrant and the specific details of their car 'that only they will know.'

·         Non-Exhibiting Entry Form - This form has been designed to offer those entrants not wanting to enter a car, the opportunity to enter the event and receive the same benefits that an entrant of a car would. Including access to all 4 days' worth of events and activities.

·         Entry Advice Sheet - The Entry Advice Sheet has been designed to assist those entrants of vehicles with all aspects of the event. Including (but not limited to) "Which category is the right one for me?" and "Judging" etc...

·         Q&A - We have developed a 'Questions & Answers' 2 page document from initial queries in which we received. This document has been attached for your reference.

 

Email Update Received from HSVOC Victoria 21st April 2010:

Accommodation is available at Rydges, which is within walking distance of the Royal Exhibition Building. Prices are $165 per night per twin or double room (2 people per room) including 2 breakfasts.

 

Organisation of the event is progressing well. The basic program has been locked in and you can let your members know this. Further details will come in an official release in a couple of weeks. Food is only provided at the Registration Evening, the Gala Dinner and the farewell barbeque. All other meals will be up to entrants to arrange at their own expense.

 

The cost to enter the various events has not been decided yet. The welcome/registration will be free, as will the farewell. There will be entry fees for the overall event, the Concourse show or the outdoor show’n’shine, and the dinner. Entrants will be able to enter for whichever part of the event they want to attend eg some may want to enter the overall weekend but not the concourse show. Some may want the weekend and the show’n’shine but not the dinner. Some may want to attend everything etc. We will be very flexible so that entrants can pick and choose to suit themselves.

 

Thursday 16 September

 

Registration day at HSV Clayton commencing 2.00pm.

Obtain entrant credentials for weekend activities

Obtain goody bag

HSV Factory tour

HSV Museum open

HRT factory tour

Free barbeque that evening

 

Friday 17 September     

 

Set up concourse show at Royal Exhibition Building, Carlton Gardens – from 6.00am.

Those entrants not showing can assist other entrants with their displays or make it a shopping or sightseeing day. Show is within walking distance of CBD and Carlton restaurant precincts

Show opens 4.00pm to invited guests only

A suggested dinner destination will be advised for those who want to go out in a group

 

Saturday 18 September

 

Indoor Concourse Show and outdoor show’n’shine opens 10.00am and is open to the public all day. The café will be operating all day. Again those entrants not showing can make the day a shopping or sightseeing day.

Show concludes 5.00pm

Dinner commences 7.00pm. with drinks on arrival. The dinner will be set amongst the cars in the Royal Exhibition Building. Guest speakers will comprise past and present race drivers and motoring identities. Food will comprise a full banquet buffet with drinks included. We anticipate a price of $100 per head but this is subject to confirmation.

Dinner concludes at 11.30pm

 

Sunday 19 September

 

Show to be cleared out commencing 6.00am. Mystery drive commences at the Royal Exhibition Building around 11.00am. and will comprise a convoy tour to an exciting destination. The day will conclude with a free barbeque farewell around 3.00pm.

About the Venue:

The Royal Exhibition Building is an iconic building within walking and tramming distance from both the CBD shopping district and the cafe and restaurant precinct of Carlton.

It was built in 1880 for the frist International Exhibition and was also the site of the first Australian Parliament.

In 2004 this was the first building in Australia to be granted World Heritage listing.

About the Event:

This event occurs once every 5 years!

Appoximately 150 cars are anticipated to be on display inside the building, with another 100 or so outside in the eastern forecourt which will also be open to the public.

The event will be open to owners of any HSV build plated vehicle or any Brock era HDT build plated vehicle.

The show may include some top modified GM cars such as early era Chev's and 60's & 70's GM muscle cars as an added attraction. It is also anticipated that some iconic concept cars from both HSV and Holden will be displayed as well.

The Gala Dinner will also be held in the Royal Exhibition Building, with tables arranged in the centre of the car display. This will be a dinner not to be missed, with the fantastic atmosphere of he cars around us!


 

Travel: A Club Cruise to and from this event is being planned, however members are free to make their own arrangements to either drive there or send there cars down by rail or car carrier.
